Service Description

Little Wranglers is a classroom inspired by the Goddard School teaching method of using conscious discipline and the Reggio Amillio teaching theory that suggests that we learn best through play. Each of these classes touches on pony care, impulse control, cooperation, communication, as well as exercises both fine and gross motor skills, balance, stamina, attention, and anticipation. Because the 5-6 year old mind is a place of curiosity and sometimes lacks the ability to focus for "too" long, Little Wranglers classes are specifically designed to switch gears at just the right time, keeping riders interested and engaged with their teacher. Students learn that ponies have feelings and thoughts too, and that we all have to work together to make the ride a good one. Games are often employed in the Little Wranglers class as a way of keeping instruction light and fun. When frustration and fatigue are recognized in students, instructors are trained to take a pause and shift the class in a way that defuses tension and promotes rider confidence. These classes focus on building hand-eye coordination, independent thought, and above all safety for both rider and pony.
